I start with a thin layer of epoxy and combine it with a tint of black dye to create a blank canvas on which to design my art. Then I carefully select a frame from many types of hardwood that I have collected over the past 40 years. Next, I choose branches that will create a natural yet enchanted foundation for the art piece. To amplify the natural beauty of the branches, I incorporate dried leaves, flowers, herbs and grasses that I harvest each fall. Once all the details have been chosen I layer in clear epoxy with the materials to establish depth and dimension. Lastly, I sand each piece and apply multiple coats of oil for an elegant patina finish.
